Energy conservation is a crucial aspect of sustainable living and reducing our carbon footprint. By saving energy, we not only protect the environment but also help in reducing utility bills. One of the most straightforward methods to conserve energy is by switching off lights when not in use. Let's consider a scenario where we have 100 light bulbs in a building, each with an average power consumption of 60 watts. If these lights are left on for 24 hours a day, the total energy consumed in a year would be: 60 watts (per bulb) × 24 hours (per day) × 365 days (per year) = 43,800 watt-hours or 43.8 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day for all 100 bulbs.
