The controversial book by Salman Rushdie Satanic Verses that put the author on high security for nearly a decade following an Islamic decree on him and a $25 million award to anyone who kills him decades later on Friday was attacked in New York. The author sustained injury to his neck with a knife by a masked assailant that carried the attack on him. He fell down to the ground profusely bleeding in a pool of blood. He lay in that condition for five minutes. He was rushed to a hospital. According to his spokesperson he is on ventilator. Nothing more on his progress is known.
