Lebanon Blast

Two years ago exactly on this day Beirut experienced a massive blast in one of it's ports. Whereby large amounts of nitrous compound had been stored nearby with the owners not claiming it for very long. Which came as a shipment to the ports. Having left the highly combustible and toxic cargo uncared for improperly has been the cause of the blasts. Thousands of people injured and left tens of thousands homeless. The blast torn apart buildings and homes nearby shattered and completely damaged.

For two years hence, the investigation had been stalled. This was a human rights issue for the the nature how human lives were not adequately safeguarded. The repercussions of this blast and the heat due to the summer is being felt in the region. The people who were responsible is still unclear and in limbo.

There has to be major steps to be taken in this direction. This can happen and it leaves the risk of human rights not to be properly addressed also in the future if the persons are not brought before justice responsible for this tragedy. It's both a human as well as an economic tragedy for the people. The government has to come up neatly with a paper explaining the cause for this tragedy on this second anniversary. Trust and confidence building campaigns and measures must start to prevent any such incident in the future. The anniversary must be remembered every year as a reminder in the future. The spade work needs to start immediately bringing back trust and confidence in the region.

Kamala Harris: Missing the Moment to Define Her Leadership

Transcript: The recent debate featuring Kamala Harris and Donald Trump was an important moment for the Democratic nominee to solidify her position as a leader. Yet, instead of seizing the opportunity to project confidence and vision, Kamala seemed to falter, weighed down by personal fears and memories of long-standing struggles. A key point that stood out was how Kamala Harris seemed to forget the very words she once made her mantra in her career as a prosecutor: "Kamala Harris for the people." These five words, often repeated by her during her time in courtrooms, represented her fight for justice and equality. However, during the debate, this sense of purpose seemed absent. The stage was set for her to remind everyone why she was the candidate for all people, but she failed to deliver a message that would resonate on that larger stage. Rather than focusing on a forward-thinking vision, Harris spent much of her time reflecting on the negatives, particularly issues of racism, ...
