Leadership Gap: Tyrant Vs Character

In a society that values justice and equality, the notion of being above the law is anathema. It is a concept that is deeply ingrained in our collective conscience, and one that we all subscribe to. However, there are rare instances when individuals, often in positions of power and influence, begin to believe that they are above the law. This belief can be dangerous and corrosive to the fabric of society, as it undermines the very foundations of democracy and rule of law.

The first instance when an individual cannot think otherwise and believes they are above the law is when they have absolute power. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Those who hold power over others often begin to believe that they have the right to do whatever they please, regardless of the consequences. They may use their position to manipulate the system to their advantage, or even break the law with impunity. This sense of entitlement can be so strong that they begin to see themselves as above the law, and may even flaunt their disregard for legal norms.

Another instance when an individual cannot think otherwise and believes they are above the law is when they have a strong sense of self-righteousness. These individuals may believe that their actions are justified because they are doing what they perceive as right or just. They may feel that they are above the law because they are acting in service of a higher cause or principle. This belief can be dangerous because it can lead to a disregard for legal norms and a willingness to break the law in pursuit of their goals.

Finally, an individual may believe that they are above the law because they have a strong sense of entitlement. These individuals may feel that they are entitled to special privileges or exemptions because of their position or status in society. They may believe that they should not be subjected to the same laws as ordinary citizens because they are somehow superior or more deserving. This sense of entitlement can be so strong that it leads them to flaunt their disregard for legal norms and act with impunity.

In all these instances, it is important for society to remind these individuals that no one is above the law. The rule of law is essential for a just and democratic society, and it must be upheld at all times. Those who believe that they are above the law must be held accountable for their actions, regardless of their position or status in society. Only by upholding the rule of law can we ensure that justice is served and equality is maintained in our society.

The Endless Cycle of Misinformation and Deflection: Biden, Harris, and the 2024 Campaign

For four long years, a column was being written in the press, a persistent narrative that followed President Joe Biden through his term in office. Every time Biden faced tough questions or criticism, he would pause, take a deep breath, and yell back, branding the conversation as either "misinformation" or "disinformation." It became almost a hallmark of his response—deflecting any criticism by labeling it as part of some broader, nefarious campaign to distort the truth.  This strategy came full circle the day Biden signed his name to a critical decision: his reelection announcement for 2024. By deciding to run again, Biden’s reelection bid felt like the culmination of a column that had been continuously drafted, edited, and critiqued. His familiar refrain against “misinformation” became, in essence, the core message of his defense—any challenge to his policies or leadership was dismissed as an attack not based on facts but on falsehoods. But the story didn’t end the...
